"The Shining" Movie Posters and Menu Design

Inspired by the iconic horror film "The Shining," a set of movie posters and a menu for the fictional "The Gold Room" were created as a personal project. The designs were crafted in a unique, creepy faceless style to enhance the eerie atmosphere.

Movie Posters:

  • Designed with a distinct faceless/eyeless style, removing facial features to evoke a sense of mystery and unease. This approach taps into the unsettling nature of the film and heightens the horror elements.

  • To amplify the creepiness, faded text in the background was used. This added texture and a chaotic feel to the designs, reminiscent of the film’s violent and suspenseful moments.

  • One of the posters employed angles and perspectives to create a 3D effect. This technique draws viewers in, making the poster visually intriguing and adding depth to the composition.

Creative Approach

The Gold Room Menu:

  • The menu was designed to match the eerie vibe of the movie posters.

  • The faded splatter edge overlay was used to give the menu an aged and distressed appearance, adding to the creepy, haunted feel. This detail made the menu look like it had been part of the eerie setting for years, further drawing viewers into the atmosphere of "The Gold Room."

  • The layout and typography were chosen to reflect the vintage yet haunting atmosphere of "The Shining."

  • Every aspect of the menu, from the colour scheme to the paper texture, was meticulously selected to immerse viewers in the unsettling world of the Overlook Hotel.
